Where You Sit At…

Never say never.

Words to live by

Because it is when we say we never will, we do.

And do we ever really listen to ourselves? Some of us are notorious for putting our foot in our mouth.  When I say some of us, I mean me.   I wrote my rule book for living based on the stupid scenarios I find myself in, on, or on the outside of, idiot.  All of those are prepositions, and you shouldn’t end a sentence with a preposition, that’s where the idiot found it’s resting place. And I meant me, not you.  But,  if I can be consulted in a stupid scenario it is within the confines of a prepositional phrase.

cactus (2)

I am about to say something stupid.

I was in the car when something stupid was said.

I was on the phone when I said something stupid.

I was out of my mind when I said that.

You know, I barely graduated from high school?  I put the dingy in “dingy blonde.”  It was a  persona.  And in spite of my graduate studies, I still didn’t know what a prepositional phrase was until I taught first grade when I was 38-years-old.  And when I said it out loud, I was infuriated.  Something this simple couldn’t have been better explained to me???  A classroom full of littles stared back at me as I ranted.

“THAT’S A PREPOSITIONAL PHRASE!??!?!  THAT IS, IT? IT IS THAT SIMPLE???”

And yes, if you are about, above, across, after, against, around, at, before, behind, below, beneath, beside, between, beyond, by, down, during, except, for, from, in, inside, into, like, near, of, off, on, out, outside, over, since, through, throughout, till, to, toward, under, until, up, upon, with, without and few others, you are in the midst of a prepositional phrase.

And in the midst of the preposition the stupid stuff is said.  Stuff we said we’d never say rolls off the tongue.

I hadn’t heard a word about the recent Louisiana shooting until this afternoon.  And I am not here to even discuss it.  Since we moved back to the ranch, I haven’t had time to think about cable installation.  We haven’t missed it.

However, I received a prayer request from a friend who lives Baton Rouge.

She asked that we, please pray for her heart broken hometown.

I had to ask; I hadn’t heard.

And then I had to look, so I googled it.  The things that popped up in my news feed were alarming, to say the least. But more alarming? Those who are oblivious to the fact that we are the problem. Isn’t prejudice easily explained?

cactus (3)

Our entire culture in infested with prejudice and those prejudices are rampant within every phrase of every race, religion, denomination, non-denomination, and supermarket line.  And you who say you would never, do it all the time. And, yes I mean me.

If you feel the need to whisper the description, you probably should just shut up.  Opps, you should probably just shut up, idiot. Just from this side of the fence, these are prejudices that have been whispered to me: Italicized for whispered word.

Is your baby’s daddy Mexican?

I can’t believe you have a white foster baby?

What is wrong with that baby?  Is it a crack baby?

I would think you’d only get black foster babies?

Sorry, I forgot your son was a Mexican when I told that joke.

You know I heard that girl was a lesbian?

Are there lots of white foster kids?

cactus (5)

How does whispering stupid stuff make it any less stupid?  If I end a sentence with a preposition, whispering doesn’t make it any less inaccurate?

And if we are going to be crazy honest, why not be bold?

Did you know, that in Texas if you adopt a white child out of foster care they don’t get financial support? What? Yep. So an orphaned, abandoned, abused, crisis white child needs less support than a black or Hispanic child?  Well, wait, more people want to adopt white children than minorities.  Seriously?  You said that out loud?  And actually, that’s not true anymore.  Thanks, Angelina Jolie now everyone wants a black baby.  Like a Fossil bag, it’s in style.  But if you adopt a little black baby boy out of foster care won’t he grow into a big black man?  Well yes, but he will better off having been raised white?  You mean white like the morbidly obese, toothless, barefoot white folks that patron my local Walmart?  And adoption isn’t for me, but I don’t think gays should be able to adopt either, well unless there are black children in need of home.

Oh. My. Stars.

cactus (6)

I don’t believe any of us can say we haven’t thought one or more  prejudice things.  I don’t think any of us can say we aren’t judgmental. We are judgmental beings.  And just when we say that we aren’t, we say something indicative of being just that, judgmental.

So never say never.  And never say you wouldn’t cause you might.  And don’t bother whispering, it doesn’t negate the power of your words, it only italicizes them. Furthermore, a prejudice can go beyond skin color to class, school district, and sin.  Sin is sin is sin.  And sure Jesus said, “go and sin no more,” but He didn’t say you should say it?

What He said was, take the log out of your eye before you go digging around trying to take a speck out of your neighbors.  So, all  Asians work at nail salons, Mexicans are cheap labor, black lives don’t matter, and all whites are ignorant and shop at Walmart.  If you are about, above, across, after, against, around, at, before, behind, below, beneath, beside, between, beyond, by, down, during, except, for, from, in, inside, into, like, near, of, off, on, out, outside, over, since, through, throughout, till, to, toward, under, until, up, upon, with, or without you can easily take offense to this.

Or, you can pray for those who are suffering, ask for eyes that you might see. You can breathe and think before you speak, and realize we all voice from the broken places. The simple places that seem so easily explained, a place where all the wrecked, wounded, suffering, and surrendered sit down at, idiot.

May your floors be sticky and your calling ordained.  Love, Jami

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. John 14:27

Every time I read your blog, I think to myself — I really like her .. wish we were real life friends:)
We fostered for a little over 5 years and then were blessed with the adoption of our youngest daughter. Fostering really opened my eyes to the blind ignorance of others .. mostly those who look like me. I guess they think because our skin is the same color, it’s okay to ask those ‘whispered’ questions. If I’m honest though, I was an ignorant just like them. I’m a little better now, more aware … I guess it helps when your heart now belongs to one of ‘those’ kind of kids. It seems like the hate is getting stronger? or perhaps we are just now more aware of it.

The older I get–The the more more more I question “What the heck are people thinking?”

  5. Abel Josephson on July 7, 2016 at 1:14 pm

I am just at my fist cup of coffee and my eyes are barely open as I read and marvel at this…..uh….this….uh….statement? Bolg? Report?….uh…..short story?…..instructional sentiment?
What do I call this oh my……what I have just read is not sexy but it sure has teeth~!……Perefect~!
Thanks for the “Sobriety checkpoint”….I love this stuff~! Right on~!
    Where do I start?….Wow~! Yessssss~!
So with gentle ease I will slide this in at this angle….a person seeks finds and locates flaws in another with great joy until there is a change in their judgement of themselves.
A person will actually seek, locate and verbalize these anomalies that are somehow considered beneath us because it sooths us…and why? It causes one to be consoled in their own state of condemnation. “Look at them….they got problems too…GOOD”…
What does that ,mean?…..It means….there is satisfaction found when I find flaws in another because it actually sends a message to myself….”Their flawed too, and in finding the flaw in another I am not alone in the secret subtext of my own internal sense of helplessness with my own seemingly unchangeable estimation of self”…..ok….maybe that was too deep……hmmmm…
There is an irrevocable law of the spirit called “The Law of Judgment” and that law is this “AS you see yourself you will see others and this includes God and all that you perceive about him as one of those in the “others” category….Oh yes it does.
His divine nature is the law of judgement it is the description of how he operates within himself….it is the gold standard for judgement and perfection…and man does not have him pegged correctly.
You went to Matthew 7 so I will jump off at the same address…no, its not a diatribe nor a rant…but if I am typing, I might as well make a clear point….
    Matthew 7
7 Judge not, that ye be not judged.
2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.
3 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?
4 Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye?
5 Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother’s eye.
Though I could go word by word, I wont…(For your sakes…lol)….That opening statement is enough~!
“Judge not, that ye be not judged”…wow~! That means that I come to the end of judgement for myself when I remove judgement of myself?….YES~! Because it says judge not….lest YOU be judged so the judgement that must end is the measurement of myself…..by me~!
If I remove myself from the courtroom….simultaneously I am removed from the courtrooms of others…by me….within me~!
To be judged means there is a final decision made so when I find flaw in another, this means I have already found and confirmed the flaw on me…..so….when I see no flaw in me….it will not be and cannot be found in another.
Here is where life begins in the understanding…..God is included in “Others”….so if I find flaw in me….Automatically the belief arrives that God sees the same flaw~!
If one thinks Mexicans are stupid…it’s only because the person with that belief thinks they themselves are stupid…..If I am impressed with my athletic abilities, I think others are impressed….it’s a spiritual law in effect and its powerful.
Whatever is smeared across the eyes of your windshield will appear smeared across the lives of all others…like gravity…you cannot break that truth out of existence…
Do you think God finds flaws in himself, do you think he finds sin in his camp, do you think he wakes up and says “I am tired…nobody likes me, I am not getting anywhere in life”??….NO…..you don’t think he has that estimation of himself do you……here is the good news~!
Since he does not judge himself as dumb, unattractive, and sinful…….guess what sports fans…..he doesn’t see it in you~!
The law of Judgement is your friend and companion to everlasting life……..”let us go on unto perfection” ~!
Perfection is an understanding….and when you change your mind or rather when you “repent”….you will be changing your “Judgements” of yourself…(removing planks from your eyes) and in the process without asking another to change…..watch~!…they will transform in your own eyes as well…
To walk without divine knowledge in your life is required, has anyone been exempt?
Without first walking in darkness…how would light then be found so glorious?

All things were brought before Adam to see what he would “Call” them…..whatever you “Call” yourself…remember…you are calling others and God under the same judgement….
It’s judgement based on what is good and or what is evil that brings the ugliness…calling it “perfect” brings life and freedom.

White foster parents and a Mexican baby?…..Perefect~!

Gay parents adopting a needing vulnerable child….perfect~!

Judging through the eyes of “good” AND “evil” will destroy the beauty in both of those caring parents….proving what is in you…not them….

The law of Judgement…..there you go~!

wonder what it takes to make a change?

    • Abel Josephson on July 7, 2016 at 3:15 pm

When you say “I will never”…then you make another law and the law draws you to do what the law says you will not do….

When you have no law and are free to do…….interest is lost. Go to the BMW showroom with no money…..you will desire every car there because the lack of money says NO you cant have a BMW.

Go to the showroom with a briefcase full of all the money needed…..you get picky….even uninterested……more discerning…etc etc etc…..

  7. Abel Josephson on July 7, 2016 at 3:10 pm

Oh the change is sooooo easy…..it is considered foolishness by man.

The power is in your mouth~!

The scriptures are not the word of God. Jesus even said they bare witness of me but in searching them….you will not find everlasting life.

He asked Peter “Who do you SAY that I am”….he didn’t ask what does the Torah or the law of Moses say tat I am..

Jesus knew that who he was to Peter was based on what he “said”…why Peter “Called him…because Jesus knew the “words” that you speak are “God” to your own mind…..in the beginning was the “word” (speech and talking) and the Word was with God and the word was God…

Why is it that In the upper room Jesus called Judas “A devil”…but…..when he returned from the Garden of gethsemane and greeted This devil Judas who brought the men with pitch forks, rakes and torches searching for this Frankenstein they considered Jesus to be…why did Jesus change what he “Called” Judas?…….
Oh yes he did change what he “Called” him…..he greeted him and said “FRIEND……wherefore art thou come?
It is because Jesus came to the revelation that what he “Called” Judas was going to change his own level of anguish…torment and did he have this in the Garden? Yes we know he did.
He opened his mouth and by the power of God…by the power in his own words he “Called” Judas “friend”…..
He asked is they any other way and he was in torment as he fought against the way the Father had for him…but…….
When he realized that Judas was the key element that was going to bring about what must needs come to pass for the resurrection of the knowledge of the power of the “Word” in mankind…..wow….all of a sudden……Judas became a friend to him and the father and not an enemy.
    What one judges….he will “call”…..
Do you want blamelessness? “Call” yourself blameless…if you can’t do this…at least call others perfect and blameless for what they say and do and it will be given unto you…
This is the law of giving……give and it shall be given unto you, good measure…etc etc etc…
Man laughs at that because their continually finding evil in themselves and others because of their own judgment and continual estimation of themselves in a torn two parted judgement so they never trust what they say….
God himself was so sure of what the power of what he spoke was that he even prophesied over his own spoken words….”These words go and do exactly what I send them out to do…and…..they even report back to me when they have completed their mission.
Man doesn’t trust any power in what they say because they can never settle on one truth because they believe that they are flawed and in this…..will never trust what they say as truth or believe that their own words have power….
    Much could be said right?…..smile~~
He that is double minded will receive nothing from God and what you say is God to your own mind….what others say to you is not God to you….what you say is God.
You will never find perfection ion a Gay couple adopting a child not because they are “gay”…..it’s because when one finds perfection in the “way” that they are made and darkness and deceptions a key element in how you are brought to truth….
Geee golly whilakers Mrs. Cleaver……..Jesus came to this revelation too didn’t he?…..Oh yes he did Wally…..he “called” Judas a devil one day and the next…….wow…..this adversary was being called a friend~!
Oh my my my~!…Wow Mrs. Cleaver…..your right…..if a Potter is going to shape and mold the clay….he cant do it with just one hand can he?……Nooooooo Wally……God has to have “two hands” to shape and mold the clay…..one…pressing against the other~!…..good cop….bad cop….
You see wally…….you will not know the good cop without the bad cop standing next to him…..so the bad cop is essential and is just as glorious as the good cop~!
You see Wally……Mrs. Cleaver knows that if you want to see a straight stick….well….put a straight stick next to it~!
Gee Mrs. Cleaver I see it now…..Romans 13 about how all power and authority so if God…..
Oh yes Wally….remember how ugly you thought Egypt and Pharoe were? God says Egypt is my people….I dandled Pharoe on my knee~!
So God is in charge of what we have known as evil and darkness? Oh yes Wally remember he said to Moses “I will harden Pharoes heart”……
And remember Wally while you are hating and binding the devil that Jesus called his friend….your despising an integral part of the chemistry that God has invented…he cannot show power unless he has an enemy to express power against…..the left hand Wally…is also Gods hand in your shaping and molding….
I understand Wally….I believed that way too for a long time until I realized that I was told to “love my enemies” and as long as my greatest enemy was hated……..then I could never see perfection in all things….and then I learned Jesus called this “Devil”….his….friend~!
Wally?……you cant bake cookies and pies without an oven that if touched will send you to the emergency room…..you know that…and without the oven…..no cookies sweet heart….nooooo cookies~!
So….is the oven evil because of the damage it can cause?
What you “Speak” makes the change Wally….inside of you…you cannot speak one thing and believe another thing….go ahead and try.
Wow Mrs. Cleaver…..I am going to pass through your kitchen more often…..and by the way Mrs. Cleaver….you sure look swell in that blue cotton dress when the sun shines through it~!
    I know Wally and your right….I do….I look hot~!
